Catherine Z. Cory

Cathy provides goal-based investment advice to our clients. This includes multigenerational financial planning and forecasting, lending and risk management strategies. She takes pride in being able to find short- and/or long-term solutions for our clients’ financial needs. Cathy also serves as our clients’ personal CFO by managing the process and the engagement of their entire professional advisor team. For Cathy, it’s all about building distinct and intimate relationships with clients, their kids and now their kids’ kids. “It’s an organic development when you are intertwined with one of the most private aspects of an individual’s life…their money. Our client base is small, which allows each relationship to become very personal. That makes it even easier to want to deliver something that really makes a difference in their lives—and that much more satisfying when we do.”

Beyond forging meaningful client relationships, Cathy enjoys problem-solving and being able to leverage the full resources of the Gryphon Financial Partners team to help make our clients’ lives easier and more meaningful.

Cathy didn’t choose her career, so much as she entered “the family business.” Her brother, uncle and dad have all been involved in the investment management business. When she decided to switch from having a job to having a real career, she broke away from the family and went to another firm to make it on her own.

Before co-founding Gryphon Financial Partners in 2014, Cathy worked for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney for several years and briefly for Merrill Lynch prior to that.

Philanthropy has been an important part of Cathy’s life since childhood. Since having children, she has intentionally focused her volunteer time on supporting educational and healthcare charities. Cathy was a board member of the Bexley Education Foundation. She remains active at the Arthur G. James Hospital, where she has been a volunteer since 1996.

Cathy is a graduate of The Ohio State University and has a B.A. in Psychology. She lives in Bexley, Ohio. She is an avid runner, foodie and reader—all activities she enjoys sharing with her adult son and daughter.
